About Libor Činka

My name is Libor Činka. I am an author, Ericksonian hypnotherapist, trainer, and creator of innovative learning methods based in Prague, Czech Republic.

For more than three decades, I have explored how MATCH — Memory, Attention, Technology, Creativity, and Hypnosis — can make learning easier, more engaging, and longer-lasting in memory.

I am especially interested in vocabulary learning because I know the problem personally.

My serious journey with English began in the early 1990s, after the Velvet Revolution opened Czechoslovakia to a much wider world. Suddenly, English offered access to books, teachers, ideas, technologies, and opportunities that had previously been far harder to reach.

I studied English intensively — and soon became fascinated by a question that would shape much of my professional life:

Why does learning require so much effort when the human mind is capable of such extraordinary feats of memory and imagination?

That question eventually took me far beyond conventional language learning.

Helping people learn, remember, and think differently for more than three decades

From learner to learning-system creator

My interest in accelerated learning reaches back to the 1980s. As a student, I was already experimenting with recordings, memory techniques, and ways of organizing information more effectively.

Later, the huge amount of material involved in my studies made this interest intensely practical. I wanted methods that would help the mind absorb, organize, and retrieve information more efficiently.

Over time, Libor Činka’s search for better learning methods became a professional journey through memory training, accelerated learning, hypnosis, psychotherapy, NLP, language teaching, visual communication, augmented reality, and virtual reality.

That breadth is important to my work today.

I rarely look at a learning problem through the lens of a single discipline. I ask what psychology can contribute, what memory research can contribute, what hypnosis teaches us about attention, what visual design teaches us about perception, and what technology can add to experience.

For you as a learner, that means I can draw from many different toolboxes rather than forcing every learning problem into one method.

Modern magic taught me to look for the unexpected solution

One of the strongest influences on the way I think began when I was eleven.

I became fascinated by modern magic and joined Prague’s oldest magic club. Years later, in 1992, I became a national champion in modern magic.

Magic became much more than a hobby.

A magician learns to work with attention, perception, expectation, imagination, timing, surprise, and creative problem-solving.

You repeatedly face an apparently impossible objective and ask:

What combination of principles could make this possible?

That way of thinking has stayed with me throughout my life.

It influenced the way I approached hypnosis.

It influenced the way I approached memory.

And it profoundly influenced the way I approached language learning.

Modern magic taught me to search beyond the obvious solution, combine ideas from different fields, and look at familiar problems from unusual angles.

That is also what I want readers of The Invisible Illusionist to gain. By using the book together with InvisibleIllusionist.com, they can get the most from the ideas — with additional examples, methods, and new ways to explore and apply them.

More than 30 years of teaching and experimentation

I began conducting my own trainings in 1992.

Since then, I have worked with learning, memory, communication, psychological change, hypnosis, and mental performance in many different forms.

At the beginning of this century, I also participated in memory competitions. Memory sports showed me how dramatically trained people can extend their practical memory performance through strategy.

It also raised another important question:

Which memory techniques make impressive demonstrations, and which techniques genuinely help ordinary people learn useful information?

That distinction has guided much of my work.

I am interested in methods people can actually use — especially methods that make learning more vivid, distinctive, meaningful, and enjoyable.

Ericksonian hypnosis changed the way I understand learning

For more than 25 years, another major part of my professional work has been hypnotherapy and psychological change.

This gave me a very different perspective on learning.

Learning is more than transferring information.

Attention matters.

Expectation matters.

Emotion matters.

Mental imagery matters.

The language we use internally matters.

The state in which we learn matters.

Through thousands of hours of work with clients and course participants, I became increasingly interested in creating conditions in which the learner’s own mental resources become part of the learning process.

This is one reason hypnosis and accelerated learning became so closely connected in my work.

Qualifications and professional experience

My professional background includes:

  • More than 30 years of experience teaching and developing methods for learning, memory, communication, and mental performance
  • More than 25 years of hypnotherapy practice
  • More than 1,500 hours of specialist professional training
  • Certified Hypnotherapist — National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH, USA)
  • Professional training in Ericksonian hypnosis and hypnotherapy
  • 750-hour accredited training in the Systemic Approach / Systemic Psychotherapy
  • Licensed NLP training with Dr. Richard Bandler, Paul McKenna, and Michael Breen
  • Advanced training with internationally recognized specialists including John Overdurf and Igor Ledochowski
  • 100-hour training in systemic crisis intervention
  • More than 21,000 participants in courses and online programs
  • Author of books and learning programs, including the Czech bestseller Ovládněte svůj mozek
  • Creator of original memory systems, visual learning materials, language-learning programs, lenticular learning tools, and experimental augmented- and virtual-reality learning environments
  • 1992 National Champion in Modern Magic

These experiences have given me the opportunity to observe learning and mental processes from very different perspectives.

For you, their value lies in the combination.

A memory technique can become stronger when it incorporates imagination.

A language-learning method can become more engaging when it uses principles of attention.

Technology can become more useful when its design reflects how people actually perceive and remember information.

And an apparently difficult learning problem can become much simpler when viewed from a different angle.

From books and classrooms to immersive learning

Throughout my career, I have created books, courses, online programs, memory systems, educational materials, and learning tools. One example is my innovative lenticular language cards, which change the text from English to Czech when tilted — a world-first original concept using memory-enhancing alliterations to multiply retention.

Libor Činka’s world-first lenticular language cards with memory-enhancing alliterations.

My language courses gradually developed into intensive experiences combining memory techniques, storytelling, imagery, hypnosis, games, and movement.

One of the best-kept secrets of human memory — and one that surprisingly few people know how to use deliberately — is how deeply memory is connected with space and movement through it.

Participants entering floating AR spheres to find and memorize vocabulary words.

The way we experience and remember information can also be influenced by many subtle qualities of our internal representations — often described as submodalities — such as perceived distance, proximity, size, position, movement, or perspective. I explored these patterns extensively in my book Ovládněte svůj mozek (Master Your Brain), where I also described my analysis of the thinking patterns of 2,740 people.

This naturally led me to explore new ways of turning learning into an experience. I began experimenting with augmented reality and virtual reality, using technology to make information more spatial, visual, interactive, and immersive.

For me, technology is valuable when it allows us to present information in ways that fit the capabilities of the human mind more naturally.

This lifelong search also became part of my book, The Invisible Illusionist. At its heart is memory — including original methods I developed over decades to help words and vocabulary stay in memory longer, while also making them easier to learn and recall.

The book is the starting point. InvisibleIllusionist.com builds on it with new examples, additional methods, experiments, and interactive ideas that can continue to grow beyond the printed page.

Why I created InvisibleIllusionist.com

I created InvisibleIllusionist.com as a place where I can continue exploring ideas that have occupied me for most of my life.

My goal is to help you discover ways to make vocabulary and learning more memorable, more imaginative, and easier to retrieve when you need it.

Some ideas come from memory training.

Some come from hypnosis and psychology.

Others come from visual thinking, technology, storytelling, or the creative mindset I learned through modern magic.

What connects them is a simple principle:

When the usual approach gives ordinary results, look again.

That is how I have worked for more than thirty years.

And it is what Invisible Illusionist and I are here to help you do.
